Jarrod Bowen is set for a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his left foot during West Ham’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The 28-year-old limped off in the 60th minute as Julen Lopetegui’s side were hammered at the London Stadium and no timescale has been given for his return.
Bowen is West Ham’s top scorer this season with five Premier League goals and has the most assists with four.
West Ham said: “The injury to his left foot, picked up in the first half at London Stadium, will sideline the Hammers captain heading into the New Year.”
Bowen’s injury comes as a significant blow for the under-pressure Lopetegui, who has struggled since taking over from David Moyes in the summer.
West Ham sit 13th in the Premier League with six wins from their 19 games, and they sit eight points above the bottom three.
