This Crescent-Shaped Chair for Kids Eclipses the Rest of the Room

Designing kids’ spaces is one of the most fun parts of creating a home. These rooms offer the perfect opportunity to embrace playful designs and whimsical details that might not fit elsewhere in the house. However, creating a room for your youngest (and perhaps toughest) critics comes with its own set of challenges. Kids may not prioritize aesthetics, so striking the balance between fun, functionality, and style is key. This not only makes it easier for parents to create soothing, joyful spaces, but also minimizes the need for frequent furniture updates as kids grow. Enter the Moon Chair, a new modular seating option by Latvian kids brand Wigiwama that will inspire creativity and agency in kids.

Designed by Mark Litvyakov, Wigiwama’s photographer-turned-product designer, the Moon Chair gets its name from its present shape. Composed of three separate pieces, the modular chair allows users to easily adjust the recline of the soft seat. Its flexibility not only accommodates varying comfort preferences but also encourages imaginative play, as children can rearrange and build with the different elements.

While kids will love the Moon Chair for its playful, interactive design, parents will also appreciate its practicality and style. “If your child takes it from the playroom to the living room, it won’t look out of place,” Litvyakov promises. “By opting for aesthetic design, we stimulate children’s creativity and imagination without visually overwhelming them and our homes. We believe that good taste can be cultivated from an early age.” Available in four colors and two fabric options, the chair is both eco-friendly and durable. The Toffee and Brown Sugar options feature a an OEKO-TEX and GRS-certified corduroy made from recycled PET bottles, while the Biscuit and Cream White chairs come in a OEKO-TEX certified teddy fabric. With removable and washable covers on every piece, this chair is designed to stand up to messy hands and frequent use.
