Nespresso + Pantone Partner for a Rich Mediterranean Color Story

Crystal clear waters of teal and iolite lapping sandy seasides. Salty air mixing with warm sunshine. And shades of citrus so vibrant they could ignite. Through a curated palette of coastal hues – carefully calibrated in collaboration with the Pantone Color InstituteNespresso scene builds through a synthesis of color, flavor, aroma, and even sound. The recent release of this “Unforgettable Mediterranean Summer” campaign is equally refreshing as it is nostalgic for the glamorous 1970s riviera. The vibrant Mandarin Orange anchors the color story, complemented by shades of blue, gold, and cream across a series of machines and accessories in the Nespresso x Pantone collection. Paired with freshly brewed blends, the senses conspire to whisk those sipping away for a moment of respite by the figurative shore.

The journey can be traced back to Nespresso’s headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland where the two parties convened to conceptualize this mesmerizing collection, which encapsulates the simplest joys derived from summer libations. “We aimed to create a series of products that would transport our customers to stunning beachside destinations, no matter where they are enjoying their Nespresso coffee,” says Jessica Padula, VP of Marketing and Head of Sustainability for Nespresso USA. Global adventures ensue with fully immersive experiences – from boutique transformations to pop-ups to simple set dressings – that embrace supersaturated, celebratory decor.

Options abound for those looking to craft a café experience at home, or perhaps settle into some serious armchair travel. The exclusive series comprises the limited-edition Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Pantone Mandarin Orange – a machine with a tiny footprint capable of brews in five cup sizes – accompanied by a variety of accessories including a Pantone Limited Edition Mug, the Nomad Travel Mug, and Barista Ice Cube Trays all beaming with the orange pigment. What’s more, the brand has concocted two new iced coffee flavors exclusive to the summer release: Sunny Almond Vanilla and Tropical Coconut.

Partnering with Pantone cements Nespresso’s commitment to color and accessibility to a nuanced culinary genre. It simplifies a complex world, makes the products more approachable, and associates personal taste with the beauty of color. “We know that our customers use their Nespresso machines as a way to express their individuality and style within their personal spaces,” Padula adds. “This collaboration not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our products but also empowers our customers to showcase their personal tastes.”

It would be remiss not to mention Nespresso’s status as a B Corp certified company offering many opportunities for discerning customers to contribute to circularity. All Vertuo capsules are made with 85% recycled aluminum, and the company provides three ways to properly discard waste: a mail back program, boutique and retail partner drop-off, and curbside blue bin recycling for Manhattan and Jersey City residents. Though a heavy lift, this petite device and exuberant collection find fun ways to enhance the in-home coffee ritual, embrace graphic expression, and facilitate participation in a global movement toward a sustainable coffee culture.
