Modern Takes on Classic Design From Lemieux et Cie’s New Collection

Since 2020, Lemieux et Cie has established itself as a leading brand dedicated to bringing timeless, European-inspired design to life. Founded by Canadian designer Christiane Lemieux, the brand draws on global influences, blending them seamlessly into modern interiors. The 2025 furniture collection reflects this philosophy by merging contemporary styles with rich historical references, creating pieces that feel fresh yet familiar, effortlessly fitting into a range of environments and appealing to diverse but refined tastes.

A highlight of the new collection is Lemieux’s ability to honor traditional craftsmanship while giving it a modern twist. The Chloe Coffee Table, Side Table, and Console/Entry Table all reference the 19th century, spool-shaped “bobbin” legs but they feel contemporary with their travertine top and generous proportions, merging past and present beautifully.

Another key influence is Lemieux’s tribute to classic French design. The Elodie Chair draws on the distinctive styles of Jean Royère, Pierre Chareau, and Marc du Plantier, incorporating elegant curves typical of the 1930s. The Voltaire Sideboard, crafted from rich European oak wood with intricate geometric detailing, is a nod to Post-Deco style of the same era, blending history with luxury.

While many pieces feature angular silhouettes, such as the Adrien Side Table or Elysees Dining Table, Lemieux also softens the collection with curves, seen in the scalloped edges of the Celine Bench and Marchand Nightstand. Arced legs, bow-shaped back rests, and cylindrical forms also bring softness to the collection.

Lemieux et Cie’s use of natural materials underscores its connection to nature and simplicity. The striking beauty of natural burl wood is highlighted in pieces like the Dumas Lounge Chair, Rondel Bunching Coffee Table, and Benoit Bench. Travertine is also a reoccurring material, found in the Aline Coffee Table and Diard Console Table.
