So, how did we test this mask? I asked two editors on the team to put it to the test over a couple of months so that I could get their thoughts. I chose both of these editors as I knew that they wouldn’t buy into a beauty trend just for the sake of it, so I could trust that I was going to get their honest opinions. Before we get into how they got on, let me share a little bit about the mask itself.

LED light:
Before investing in an LED mask, it’s important to do some research into what the mask can offer, as it can vary from model to model. This particular mask comes with two wavelengths (also known as lights), including red and near-infrared. The red wavelength works to stimulate collagen and even skin tone, while near-infrared works to heal and calm inflamed skin.

Treatment settings:
The mask comes with one treatment setting to get the most out of both wavelengths. The treatment time is 10 minutes in total so it’s easy to fit into your morning or evening routine.

Mask:
Because it is made of soft, flexible silicone, this mask is super comfortable to wear. It is wireless (so will need charging from time to time) and comes with two straps to secure it in place. It also comes with a controller to activate the red light.

Poppy’s review: “I’ve tried a few LED masks before but The Light Salon’s is my favourite, which is why it’s now a core step in my skincare and wellness routine. I’m a big fan of The Light Salon in general, and have been using the Cleanse and Recovery Spray and Hydrogel Face Masks for a while, along with visiting their treatment spaces for facials, so I knew I was in good hands with this. The main pros are that it is incredibly easy to use, and since using it 3-4 times a week, I’ve noticed some positive changes to my skin; it looks less red, and overall tone and scarring have improved. Like all LED masks, this is an investment, and it would be remiss of me not to mention that it is expensive. However, I truly do think it’s worth it, and I will continue to use it for years to come.”

Pros: Easy to use, comfortable to wear and actually has improved my skin.

Cons: The price, not being able to purchase a replacement strap, and the controller is a little heavy.

Sophie’s review: “When I first tested The Light Salon Boost LED Face Mask last year, I gave it 10/10 as I felt that I could see results straight away, especially when it came to the overall glow of my skin. I don’t use it as regularly as I did during the trial period but it is my 2025 resolution to use it most nights. My opinion of the mask hasn’t changed at all. When I use it I feel like I get that instant glow. If I use it in the morning, I swear my makeup glides on easier and I can see radiance shining through. It’s so easy to use and you can do other things whilst wearing it (cleaning and tidying is my usual activity while it is on!). My dad is the latest convert for this LED mask after he got it as a gift. I think it’s worth the price if you are getting regular use out of it.”

Pros: Easy to use and gives skin a serious glow.

Cons: Only comes with two wavelengths.

The Conclusion

As you can tell, this mask impressed our editors. It definitely sounds like it’s easy to use and therefore would make a great option for anyone looking to try out an LED mask for the first time. Both editors saw a difference in their skin so now is the perfect time to invest if January has your complexion feeling a little lacklustre and dull.

The downsides? Yes, it’s expensive, so it’s a purchase worth thinking about before adding to your basket. That being said, it is cheaper than other models on the market and an in-salon treatment could end up costing you £100 a visit, so it could be worth the investment in the long run. The only other downside is that it only comes with two different lights. Don’t get me wrong, red and near-infrared wavelengths really are the key ones you would want from an LED mask, but some other models may come with other wavelengths such as blue light that can help treat acne.

All in all, if you’ve been thinking about treating yourself to an LED mask and are not sure which one to go for, this is a strong option that ticks all of the key boxes in my opinion.
